The mountain region of NC covers about 10% of the state. In the mountain region of Morth Carolina some of the cities include
Boone, Asheville, Hickory, Murphy, Banner Elk and many more. The main mountains are the Great Smokey Mountains, Grandfather
Mountain, Stone Mountain, Mt. Airy, Mt. Mitchell and the Appalachain Mountains. There is also the Tweetsie Railroad, Chimney
Rock, Blue Ridge Parkway, and the Appalachain Trail. In the Mountains, the magor universites and community colleges are Western
Carolina University, Appalachain Univeristy, University of North Carolina Greensboro, Lees McRae College, and a few others.
A few very famous sites are the Biltmore Estate, the French Broad, and the various Ski Resorts.

The elevation in the Mountain Region is 1,500 ft to about 6,600 ft. Some of the agriculture is burley tobacco, corn,
soybeans, wheat, vegetables, apples, and even christmas trees. The natural resources are water, minerals, precious stones,
fertile soil, and wood. A few state parks include Mt. Mitchell State Park, Lake James State Park, and New River State Park.
A forest in the mountain region is the Pisgah Forest. Rivers are Tennessee River, French Broad, and the Kanawha River.
